Take the homophobes' survey and support equal rights!
Please take this survey and pass it on.

Yes, it's inaccurate -- what they call "special" rights are simply the same rights that any other taxpaying American is entitled to. But they apparently only feel that white heterosexual people who go to their churches are supposed to have civil rights.

"Christians," my ass...

Thanks to Erastes for this info. PLEASE repost.

To folks who don't think writers should be political... sorry, but this is my life they're trying to control. And I think it would be the worst kind of hypocrisy to be selling m/m romance and not participate in supporting civil rights for GLBT folk.

Take a Survey and silence the bigoted jackasses who are pretending to be Christians.

Pause the video. Believe ME you really don't want to watch it. It's vile.

Go and tell them what you think on their survey - do homosexuals deserve: "special rights just like African Americans and other minorities!"?

This is the reaction to the reaction to Proposition Hate. These "righteous" folk never expected that their names would be exposed and their corporations would be boycotted. They don't have the courage of their convictions - they prefer to hide their viciousness under a veneer of prentended virtue.

I'm on the HRC mailing list, and something wonderful happened yesterday. Around noontime, HRC sent out an action call to email a TV station that had agreed to air this hour-long hate polemic.

I was offline for a few hours. When I saw that email -- around 5 pm -- and clicked on the link to take action, the campaign had already been closed because the TV station had said they didn't want to be in the middle of someone else's fight and decided not to give the haters a site.

This BS will probably be mass-distributed the same way a similar one (purporting to link Barack Obama to al-quaeda) was sent around at election time. These SOBs have the money to pull all kinds of expensive propaganda offensives.

The purpose this time is probably to incite the usual screech monkeys to make a big fuss in California over the court battle against Prop Hate.

By all means, let's spam their survey -- but the last time this gang did something similar and the results weren't what they wanted, they simply took it down.

Which is a victory of sorts...

All of the mail boxes to which the HRC campaign had a link were full at 10 AM yesterday when I responded to the campaign.

I'll be checking out your link.

Done. What awful questions. Why don't multiple choice surveys have a slot for "You've framed the question in an utterly useless manner! Go back and retake first-year composition, or possibly remedial logic!"?
lee_rowanlee_rowan on February 12th, 2009 04:18 pm (UTC)
They skew the questions to stimulate the answer they want.

This is not the clumsy mess it appears. It's constructed very carefully.

Much like Prop 8. WHAT A COINCIDENCE!

Done! And thank goodness for my 'all junk' email box.

Done! And you can give them a BS email address, they don't verify it before they let you take the survey.

Thanks for posting this.

Oh, I gave 'em my real email. I figure if one of these pulpit-pounders decides to flame my books in public, my readership will soar.

They'll probably discount faked emails.

I love how pointed their questions are. "Should churches be forced to hire homosexuals?" Bitch, I doubt any homosexuals even want to work for you. *huff*

lee_rowanlee_rowan on February 12th, 2009 07:07 pm (UTC)
They want to phrase it in a way that scares their sheep as much as possible, and have the knee-jerk reaction be OMG, NO!!

This thing is very cleverly designed to incorporate all their lies as valid arguments.

My grad student friend actually linked me to this before I saw it here. It's great that it seems to be getting around with the right people!

Done, and showed two friends who have also done it, and plan to link in my own journal. =)

(And a warning, seriously, OP is not kidding: do not watch that video unless you want to be pissed off like it's Nov 4th all over again, asdfjsaldkfjaslfjs.)

I sent this to the gay friend who betas my books for the boy-parts accuracy.

His survey:

1) Should evangelicals always lie to support their agenda?

2) Are evangelicals actually Christians?

3) Is Jesus weeping because evangelicals use his name in vain to support hate of a minority? …

One shipment of spam, delivered!

And you can make a pretty compelling argument that the New Testament at least doesn't condemn homosexuality in general. Not that you'll ever hear a peep about that from these guys.
lee_rowanlee_rowan on February 12th, 2009 09:18 pm (UTC)
Jesus doesn't condemn anybody but religious profiteers and hypocrites. Which should make these clowns think, if they were capable of introspection!

Paul's another matter, but I see him as a complete throwback - never mind this equality stuff, let's make sure we establish this church as a patricarchy.

I have no use for Saul of Tarsus under either of his aliases.
raisedbymoogles on February 12th, 2009 09:34 pm (UTC)
I'm not a huge fan of some of the stuff Paul said either, but for what it's worth, the word he uses that's translated as 'homosexual' in his letters refers to temple prostitutes. In fact, there was no equivalent word for homosexual back then - it was just something people did.
lee_rowanlee_rowan on February 12th, 2009 09:47 pm (UTC)
I read an article - and no, I didn't go back and track down the precise quote - that said he was the only one in the whole book who said anything about f/f activities.

But his business about wives, be subject to your husbands... after Jesus had established that Mary was a disciple and Martha should stop pestering her to do the "women's work" says to me that Paul was out to haul this dangerously progressive new movement right back to what he was comfortable with -- male on top.

Bugger that, if you'll pardon the expression (*g*)

Did the survey, but it bothered me, I don't like saying undecided for some things when I don't think any group deserves "special rights" I think they all deserve the same rights as everyone else nothing more and nothing less, to me special rights means more rights than everyone else.
raisedbymoogles on February 12th, 2009 09:37 pm (UTC)
Yeah, but in this instance, 'special rights' refers to the right to get married, be treated like a full citizen, etc.
lee_rowanlee_rowan on February 12th, 2009 09:43 pm (UTC)
Yes, but -- you are defining the terms intelligently and accurately.

You will never get these fanatics to admit that equality for people who don't parrot their politics is anything but 'special treatment.' These are the boneheads who would still be burning gays and witches at the stake.
