!! Important Mod Note !!
To begin with a happy note: Maine has just legalized gay marriage! It's the fifth US state to do so.

On a less happy note, the mods of this community have received several emails from participants who won auctions and made their donation, but never recieved the item or service they bid on.

In a few cases, it's unclear why this happened, and the mods have tried to contact the person who offered the item. (You can still email us if you'd like us to do this.) But in others, the person offering the item or service offered in good faith, but for reasons beyond their control, was unable to deliver it.

We would like to try to remedy this situation.

1. If for any reason you are one of the people who did not receive the item or service you won, WITHOUT NAMING THE NAME OF THE PERSON WHO INITIALLY OFFERED IT, please comment to this post with a description of the item you made a donation for.

ETA: Please give enough details in your comment that readers will be able to know whether or not they can fulfill the request! Bad example: "I won fanfic." Good example: "I won a Dragonlance twincest story, but I'd be happy with anything, including gen, so long as it includes Raistlin."

2. If you can provide the item they're looking for, please comment to that comment to say so. This is so that multiple people don't fulfill the same request. After that, you can take it to email.

There is no need to make an additional donation. In these cases, the donation was already made.

Please help out if you can!

I actually have a sort of reverse problem. I took a long time to get my druthers together, but I finally do have the goods for my winning bidder. I emailed to make sure the address was still correct and if the goods were acceptable, and haven't received a response. I could just mail it out to the existing address I have, but I'm a little concerned it'll just disappear out into the aether if I do that.

I had three and never got any of them... one was a prompt journal, one was original fiction ("A story told through the eyes of a cat which somehow involves lesbianism"), and another was legal fiction.
Rachel M Brownrachelmanija on May 6th, 2009 08:38 pm (UTC)
Can you include more details on everything but the original fiction, please?

I had baked goods (eggnog muffins) that I was really looking forward to. :( I will be happy with a good recipe for said muffins.

ETA that I also didn't follow up with the person who offered them since the deadline.

This one looks good, though I'm not a fan of streusel topping and would probably skip that part.

I'd even offer to make them for you, except that there won't be any eggnog in the stores until October...

I won a post-epilogue Marriage/bonding Harry/Snape story. I have to say I never followed up with the writer when she missed the deadline.

Um, I hate to be a bother, but I won a Marus/Urban (short) fanfiction from the series Kiesha'ra.

Also, I promised 50 or so icons to someone whom I've emailed and received no response from.

I still owe the second place person (_auberginedream) their fic. I've been writing it, it has been to the beta more than once but it is still not complete. Real life has been rather harsh - while that is no true excuse, it is still a fact. :( I'm going to keep working on it and it will be done.

I had won translation services for 20-50 pages of manga (roughly equivalent to 1 chapter or a doujinshi) from Japanese into English. The translation was to be delivered back to me in a .txt file.
Traviskyuuketsukirui on May 6th, 2009 11:54 pm (UTC)
I can do this. (I have ten years experience as a professional translator, and you can see examples of my scanlations here. I've also translated 100+ doujinshi in text file format like you're talking about.)

I am posting as a bid-ee to say that I am behind a few months on my bread bid. I'm contacting my bidder via e-mail to apologize and correct the mistake, and she will get all 12 months of bread, just with a lacuna in the middle, plus an apology bonus.

Yay for Maine! I am SO glad you are doing this, because I made 3 donations for items and only received ONE of them! And one of the donations was quite sizable. :-( Anyhow, here is what I did NOT receive:

1. A book-length audio recording of my novel Necropolis. I also sent the reader a copy of my book.

2. A beaded scissor fob.

I have followed up with both people, and was promised the items which I never received. I'm trying really hard not to be hurt and angry about this, so anything anyone could do will be greatly appreciated!

a little more bite, a little less barksister_coyote on May 6th, 2009 10:31 pm (UTC)
I won the bids for the following items I have not received:

* A 'found notebook' (a blank notebook, possibly with prompts, made from an existing hardbound book). I was in contact with the offerer for some time (until September or October), and I haven't heard sense (but, admittedly, I also did not follow up).
* Tea to aid sleep and tea to aid menstrual cramps. (Two separate offers I both won, from -- I believe -- the same offerer.) I posted my payment confirmation and e-mail address in the posts with the offers, but didn't contact directly, and haven't heard anything since.
a little more bite, a little less barksister_coyote on May 6th, 2009 10:55 pm (UTC)
Addendum: I wanted to say that -- assuming my original offer-ers don't re-emerge -- I don't require a replacement, since I'm happy to just consider it a pure donation, but if the spirit moves someone, I would be happy to receive any type of notebook (with or without prompts), or any type of tea (green, black, herbal).

I won 4 things and so far I have got almost 3 1/2 out of 4. lol.
I won a fabulous drawing, which has been sent, a year of fanart from 2 different artists -- one who has been AWESOME at sending me stuff, the other who did send me one digital pic and who afterward contacted me to say that things would start arriving in January, but from whom I've heard nothing more since.
I also won a tapestry. I am in contact with that person and it is underway. :)

I won 12 things - almost all Snarry fan fic/art - and have received 4 of them. All the very short pieces that I paid around $50 each for. The really long, expensive fic is still in limbo. Some of the writers have been in contact with me and still appear to be making progress. Others I haven't heard from in ages.

But I donated the money because I believe in the cause. I would still like to receive the items I bought, but I won't be heartbroken if I never do. I was planning to donate the money regardless. So receiving anything in exchange is just a bonus and I would be happy to donate to the cause in the future if there is another round of fund-raising.

Sorry, I posted my original response under the wrong identity.

I'm the guilty party of the outstanding long, expensive fic, I'm afraid. Though it's absolutely no excuse, my RL responsibilities have been hugely increased since the U.S. economy crashed. I'm making progress, but it's very slow, much slower than I'd ever have imagined.

I won a hand-knit Slytherin scarf, POA style. I was in contact with the person, who said things were slow going for a bit, but that it was close to being done. Then I knew she went though some RL stuff.

Last contact was about late Feb/early March.
0dreamer00dreamer0 on May 7th, 2009 08:19 am (UTC)
I could probably do that, if you can elaborate on what you mean by POA style. I could probably have it in the mail a maximum of three weeks after receiving details. I would ask that you contact the original seller one last time to confirm that it's not going to happen, first.

I won four auctions, and didn't receive anything for three of them.
The first was a care basket from Arizona for a tortilla press and baking goodies.
The second was artwork, something with Renji/Bayakuya.
The third was also artwork, Hellboy/John.

I did follow up with all three, and was told the artwork was being done, but nothing ever arrived.
EQUAL-OPPORTUNITY ANNOYANCEtelophase on May 7th, 2009 01:22 pm (UTC)
If you're willing to wait until June/July and nobody else offers to make it faster, I can make you Renji/Byakuya. :) It would be in a CG B&W, toned, or flat/cel-shaded style - you can see examples at my commission info post on my DA page - since my painted styles take way too long and I've got a list of commissions I need to do at some point. XD I'm comfortable with up to an R rating, and will give you exclusive rights to the image (i.e., I can't sell prints at cons).

If you're OK with those caveats, email me at telophase14 (at) gmail (dot) com and we can talk! :D

ETA: It could be in rendered pencil or marker, also. Those don't take me as long as the CG painting do, either. :D
