OFFERED: autographed books
I'm offering two autographed trade paperbacks of my novel Juniper, Gentian, and Rosemary. I'm sorry they aren't hardcovers, but they are pretty rare. The book was published around the time that the number of mass-market distributors shrank from hundreds to tens, and was never released in mass-market paperback. It only ever sold about two thousand copies, and yet it's my favorite of my novels.

It's based loosely on Child Ballad #1, "Riddles Wisely Expounded," takes place in a slightly tipped alternate version of Minneapolis, is about three sisters and the boy next door, and has an amateur astronomer as its viewpoint character. My icon is a detail from the cover.

I'll sign your book to anybody you like, or just sign it, or leave it pristine, as you prefer.

Minimum Bid: $25.00

Since the money needs to get there in time to do some good, the deadline for this auction is Tuesday, October 21, at midnight.

Here are some links for donations:

I covet this, as I love this book, but the auction appears to be long over.

How does one play?

I have seen other people posting offers, so I assume the rules are the same. I'm about to edit the offer, however, to provide a deadline and a minimum bid. Donate your money to the same organizations, I think. I'd better check that out, too. Sorry to have rushed in. Back soon.

Yes, that's fine.

I would bid, but I already have a pristine and much-loved copy in hardcover!

Hmm, I just noticed it's Oct 22. Does that mean I missed the deadline, or that I got one? :) And do you have a preference between the two donate links?

Well, I only see two bids, and also I sent myself back a week in time and thought the 21st was next Tuesday, so on the whole, I say you got one.

Equality for All is the quintessential organization, I think, if I had to offer an opinion. NoOnProp8 has done some good work too. I'm not sure they were in the original auction as a possibility, though.

Woot! equalityforall.net appears to be a different sort of site, and equalityforall.com just forwarded to noonprop8.com. So I just donated $30 to the latter; let me know your address and I'll forward the confirmation mail?

Thank you!

I'm sorry, the links were in the original livelongnmarry post, but I should have repeated them.

And thank you. I am very distressed by the way things are going, and I can't afford to donate anything.

My email address is p d d b at d e m e s n e dot c o m. Let me know if you want the book signed, and to whom, and where I should send it.

Very belatedly, I came back around to look at this site (I was one of the sellers in the summer) and I saw this listing! I just wanted to say that Juniper, Genetian, and Rosemary is one of my most closely-held books; it means a lot to me, emotionally, and was gifted to me by a very dear and close friend at a turning point in my life. So I'm very happy to see it mentioned anywhere - and just wanted to let you know that I really liked reading it!

Thanks for taking the trouble to say so. It's really my favorite of all my books, so far, but it only sold about two thousand copies, so it isn't even in line to be reprinted.
