A victory in CT
"I can't believe it. We're thrilled, we're absolutely overjoyed. We're finally going to be able, after 33 years, to get married," said Janet Peck of Colchester, who was a plaintiff with her partner, Carole Conklin.

Gay marriage yay!

ETA: Origin of the phrase "gay marriage yay," for which I really ought to have an icon.

At the rally in Central Square the night before the legalization of gay rights in Massachusetts, back in May 2004, there was an impromptu brass band, hordes of people singing, "Goin' to the Chapel," and a lot of signs (that didn't belong to the cordoned-off Phelpsians). One of the signs was the one in my usericon (photographed by akycha). When asked about it, the woman carrying it said something like, "It was the only thing I can really say about it all!"

That's *my* gay rights yay story. It's cool that the Cosmic Unconscious has picked it up and run with it. :)
